1976 ließen KISS mit DESTROYER eine Bombe auf die Welt fallen, ein Album, das ursprünglich auf Widerstand der Fans stieß, weil die Band einen neuen Sound erforschte und ist seit langem der Inbegriff und das meistverkaufte KISS-Studioalbum aller Zeiten ist. Explodierend mit Konzertklassikern und KISS Army-Favoriten wie „Detroit Rock City“, „Shout It OutLoud“ und „God Of Thunder“ – die neuen Sounds des Albums stammen von der sanfteren Seite von Songs wie „Do You Love Me?“ und Songs reich an Orchesterarrangements wie „Great Expectations“ und ihrer Überraschungshitsingle „Beth“.

Zum 45-jährigen Jubiläum kommt nun das umfangreichste Super Deluxe Edition 4CD + Blu-ray Audio Boxset, das die Mitglieder der KISS Army zum Schwitzen bringen wird. Das Originalalbum auf CD 1 wurde von Abbey Road Mastering neu remastert, CD 2 enthält 15 Demos aus den persönlichen Archiven von Paul Stanley und Gene Simmons – 9 davon unveröffentlicht. CD 3 ist vollgestopft mit Studio-Outtakes, alternativen Versionen/Mixes und Single-Edits – vor allem ein brandneuer, abgespeckter Mix für „Beth (Acoustic Mix)“, bei dem die Akustikgitarren-Stems für den gesamten Song (damals komplett aufgenommen, aber ursprünglich nur teilweise verwendet) gefunden wurden. CD 4 bietet eine mitreißende Performance vom Besuch der Band in Paris Frankreich bei der L’Olympia am 22. Mai 1976.

Steven Wilson wurde hinzugezogen, um einen allerersten Dolby Atmos und 5.1 Surround-Mix des Original-Studioalbums sowie 2 Bonustracks „Beth (Acoustic Mix)“ und „Sweet Pain (Original Guitar Solo)“ zu erstellen, wobei letzterer die Originalaufnahme von Ace Frehley enthält, ein Gitarrensolo, das nicht auf dem Studioalbum veröffentlicht wurde (dieser Track ist im Destroyer: Resurrected-Projekt 2012 verfügbar.)

Die Verpackung enthält eine Box im Top-Stil, die mit so vielen Ephemera beladen ist, dass sogar KISS-Fans nach Erhalt dieses Boxsets möglicherweise ärztlichen Rat einholen müssen.
